A Very Late Easter Post

This post is really late!! I don't know why it has taken me so long to post this. Anyways here is Layne and I on Easter. I think Layne looks just adorable in both of these pictures!! I on the otherhand look like crap. ( Just don't pay any attention to me!) On Easter we went to church with my parents. After church we went out to eat at Texas Roadhouse with my parents, Grandma and Uncle Bob. It was a good relaxing day. Maybe next year I will remember to take more pictures!!

Random Picture Challenge

Time for another Random Picture Challenge hosted by 4 little men and girly twins!! This weeks challenge is April 2008 42nd picture.

This is a picture of a sunset over the Florida Keys. Ilsamorada, Florida to be exact. I can't believe that it has already been a year since Matt and I and his family went down there. It was so much fun!! I hope to go back there someday. The Florida Keys are gorgeous!! Here's more pictures I posted of the trip back in January. Check out more Random Picture Challenge entries here.

I'm So Excited!!!!!

One of my favorite days of the whole year is fast approaching. And no I'm not talking about my birthday and it isn't Christmas. Next Thursday I will be getting up extra early and driving to Sioux Falls with my mom for this. Some may question my reasoning behind battling other women for cheap finds but I'm all for it. I love a good bargain!! I love the excitement getting a good deal!! Last year Matt and I scoured the rummage sales and I got a brand new never used Medela breast pump for half the price of a new one!!! My mom has gotten alot of the daycare stuff at these rummages too. This year I am hoping to find Layne a coupe as well as a little tykes outdoor climbing toy of some sort. I also want to find some apothecary jars and fabric. Hopefully we will have a successful day of rummaging!! I will update with all of our fabulous finds!!

A Terrible Tragedy

I've participated in the Writer's Workshop blog carnival a couple of times. I think it is just so much fun!! You can check out more entries here.

Last month about 40-50 miles away from where we live, a terrible tragedy took place. While responding to a check of well-being call, a Deputy Sheriff was shot and killed by a 19 year old boy. This story is just heart wrenching. The Sheriff was 32 years old and left behind a wife and two young kids.

Here are some links to find out more about this sad story:

Besides this very sad story that happened not to far from where we live, there has been two other similar incidents that have happened north of us. In Huron there has been two murders in the last month or so. The first one involved to men. One man was trying to save the other man from committing suicide and instead of killing himself, he killed the guy who was trying to help him. The second one involved some sort of love triangle and in the end a 20 year old girl who was 2 or 3 months pregnant was murdered.

I just don't understand what is with people and thinking that violence is nescessary. It bothers me alot. I don't get how the 19 year old boy who killed the Sheriff thought it was a good idea to shoot and kill that man. What comes across people's minds to make them think that this is okay?? Do they just not think it through or do they lack the common sense to determine between right and wrong??
My heart aches for the wife, kids, and family of the officer who was killed. It just isn't fair. I pray for them to find peace in this awful tragedy.

What a Day

Today has been quite the day. Layne did not sleep very well last night. He got up about 5 or 6 different times. He rarely does that. Today he was very irritable. Besides being irritable he was just not himself. This afternoon he did not want to play with anything he just wanted to be held which is very unlike him. When we went outside, I put him in the swing and he immediately fell asleep. That is so UNLIKE him. He usually is fully of energy and just plain "wild" outside. When we got home from daycare I checked his temp because he was really sluggish. His temp was 101.3 . I called Matt and he came home immediately to drive us to the acute care. When the nurse checked his temp at the office it was 100.2 . They drew some blood and did an RSV/Influenza test on him. His blood count was normal and he doesn't have RSV. However, he does have influenza b. The doctor couldn't prescribe him anything but nebs but did recommend that we give a small dose of zyrtec. The doctor said that he could have this for about 7-10 days. I just hope that he gets better before that. I'm just glad that he didn't have RSV. Hopefully we won't be up all night but I have a bad feeling that we will. Please keep Layne in your prayers that he will get better soon and that neither Matt or myself get sick with this!
