For the Love of Etsy....

I'm obsessed with etsy. They have some of the neatest, most unique items that I have ever seen. And the best part is that it is all homemade!! For my friends wedding I bought her a sign like this for her wedding gift. It turned out amazing!!
(This is not the actual sign on got them. I took this off of the site.)
I want to get Matt and Layne this. I think that they would look so cute in matching shirts!!!
If you have never checked out etsy you must!!
My mom and I are working on selling some of our own creation on etsy. Stay tuned for more details on that. ( We are just in the planning stages right now.)

Stepping Stones

A few months ago I got the idea to make stepping stones for our landscaping. Well I finally got around to it. I've only made one so far as I didn't have enough cement. Here is the only one that I have gotten done so far. I think that it turned out really well. Matt is going to make one as well. And I'm going to make one for Layne.

Sorry for my long absence. We've been really busy lately and also been enjoying the great weather!! More posts to come!!

Gettin' Crafty

Lately I've been really into making things. Yesterday I went to Hobby Lobby and got stuff to make stepping stones for the landscaping. I also went to Mill End (fabric store) and get some cheap decorator fabric that I made into a baby sling. ( I will post pictures later!) That was so much fun that I'm on a hunt for more craft projects to do. I found this website that has a ton of different crafts on it. On that site I found several projects that I'm hoping to try in the near future.

I'm in love with this cardigan and it looks so easy to make. Check out this site for step by step instructions.
I'm going to make this tie for Layne for Easter. I think it's just adorable!!
I think Layne would just love playing with these blocks. I'm definitely going to make these for him.

Yay for Yummy Cake!!!

Last week I thought I would try my hand at baking a cake. I'm not very good at baking so I really wasn't sure how it would turn out. However it was so GOOD!! The frosting was really yummy! I made it into a heart especially for Valentine's Day. I'm going to have to try this baking thing more often!

Making Baby Food

After I found out I was pregnant with Layne, I did some researching on breastfeeding versus formula as well as making my own baby food. I would of loved to have been able to breastfeed for a whole year but my milk supply wasn't what it should of been. Since I'm not breastfeeding anymore ( that only lasted 4 weeks) I've done plenty of research on making homemade baby food. I found this site to be really helpful. They have recipes and food charts and all sorts of other information on making baby food. Earlier tonight I made Green Beans and Sweet Potatoes which I'm super excited for Layne to try. I think this is going to save us alot of money in the long run and the baby food is SO much fun to make and REALLY easy!

Just A Little Something I've Been Working On...

When I was little my mom made salt dough ornaments and wall hangings of my handprints for gifts to my grandparents. I thought I would try the same thing with Layne. Only instead of doing handprints I did his footprint. Here are some pictures of the wall hanging I made.
I painted the light brown paint on first before adding the dark brown. I thought it would be easier.

Finished product. I just have to spray polyeurithane on it.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Recipe for Salt Dough
4 cups Flour
1 cup salt
1 3/4 cups water
I baked the ornaments at 200 degrees for 2 1/2 hours and then let them dry out the rest of the way for 3 days before painting them. You can bake them for as long as needed just don't let them burn. (Note: It worked really well for me to spray the pan with cooking spray before putting them on the pan. They didn't stick at all. )
